A TRADITIONAL ALPINE TOWN AND EVERYMAN RESORT
Morzine has a charm. If you have been before, you will know this. if you have yet to visit, it will not be long until this charm is impressed upon you. Morzine is one of the most popular mountain resorts in the world, for both winter and summer activity holidays. And a resort to which people return year on year.
Located only just over an hour's drive from Geneva airport, Morzine sits at the heart of the Portes Du Soleil ski area - the largest linked ski area in the world and one which encompasses over 650km of groomed runs, taking in 12 traditional alpine towns and villages in both France and Switzerland.
Morzine is a bustling Alpine town with a year-round population, and despite its popularity with tourists, has very much managed to maintain the values upon which it has built its success. The pretty old town which sits upon the River Dranse is still largely influenced by the traditional church and Office De Marie, and flanked by chalets of wooden construction against a dramatic mountain backdrop. And even with the inevitable progress and sympathetically designed new developments to meet the continually increasing demand; there is still a real Savoyard charm to life here which is so often missing from the more 'purpose-built' resort.

THE WORLDS LARGEST LINKED SKI AREA
The Portes du Soleil ski area is not only huge (perhaps even too big for the normal one week stay!), but it also possess a unique selling point of having something for everyman. Combining pistes of every orientation, from high altitude powder bowls to super steep descents into Switzerland, to gentle winding tree-lined runs to the perfect snowy lunch stop; it has it all. And don't get us started on the off-piste possibilities, which are almost limitless. So there really is something to keep every ability entertained; from the seasoned skier looking for a worthy challenge, to absolute beginners and children seeking to take their first foray into a winter activity holiday.
There is still a real Savoyard charm to life here which is so often missing from the more 'purpose-built' resort.

ONE OF THE MOST SNOW-ASSURED SKI RESORTS IN EUROPE
Linked to Morzine and part of the Portes Du Soleil ski pass, is the ever popular ski resort of Avoriaz. At a resort altitude of 1800m, rising to over 2400m; Avoriaz is easily accessible from Morzine by either the Super-Morzine or Prodains Telecabines. And the Super Morzine lift is is only 300m walking distance from Chalet244.
Avoriaz looks like something straight from a James Bond film. Sitting on top of a cliff, it is a purpose build ski resort consisting of some unique architecture. Full of tall buildings with slanted roofs, which are covered in wooden shingles to mirror the angles of the surrounding mountains, Avoriaz is not your typical purpose-built resort. The streets are always snowy in Avoriaz and no cars are allowed, replaced by horse and sleigh rides under moonlight and the twinkling of winter lights. It really comes alive by both day and night and is quite a magical experience to just visit, yet alone ski.
The resorts of Morzine & Avoriaz, alongside the chic resort of Les Gets, all work together to provide the central hub of the Portes Du Soleil. Which also then extends beyond the French border into Switzerland.
